A Race Steeped in History

The inaugural Brickyard 400 took place in 1994, a bold move that brought NASCAR to the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. At the time, it was a risky departure from NASCAR’s southeastern roots—but the decision paid off. The Brickyard 400 has since become a bucket-list race for fans and drivers alike.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, nicknamed "The Brickyard" for its original brick surface (mostly paved over but preserved at the start/finish line), is among the most revered tracks in motorsports. Hosting both the Brickyard 400 and the Indianapolis 500 solidifies its reputation as sacred ground in American racing.

This year, the race continues to make history as it becomes the final race in the inaugural NASCAR In-Season Challenge, a multi-stage motorsport tournament! The final two drivers in the bracketed tournament will compete for the better finish to win $1 million!
